VILLAGE OF CAMERON REGULAR BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2017

6:00 P.M.

            The Cameron Village Board met in regular session on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cameron Village Hall. Members present: Jim Turner, Steve Johnson, Russ Hulback, Randy Hill, Dave Ebner and Mark Trowbridge presiding. Absent: Ben Hester.

 

            Also present: Terry Skaar, Mike Lynch, Jaden Ebert, Leiah Fundell and Gary Strand.

 

           The minutes of the November 13, 2017 regular meeting, the November 29, 2017 and December 4, 2017 special meetings were mailed out prior to the meeting. Jim Turner moved to approve the minutes of the November 13, 2017 regular meeting and the November 29, 2017 and December 4, 2017 special meetings, second Dave Ebner. Carried 6-0

 

            The December payables were presented in printed form. Jim Turner moved to approve the payment of the December payables and additions as printed, second Steve Johnson. Carried 6-0

 

APPEARANCES:

           Public Comment: No public comments.

            Mike Lynch was not present at the meeting.

            Jaden Ebert gave an overview of the work that his department had gotten done since the last board meeting. Jaden stated that he and Marty continue to try to resolve the water loss issue. Jaden also stated that all the sewer lines have been cleaned and that the DNR would be conducting their annual audit of the water system on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

            Terry Skaar appeared before the board to talk about the State Debt Collection (SDC) system. Terry stated that he believes the system would really be helpful in collecting of old citations. The SDC is free, but Terry also thinks the board should invest in a program called Quick Clerk, which would be an investment of $3,000 with an additional cost of $1,000 per year for the maintenance contract on the software. It was decided that Steve Johnson will work with Chief Lynch to see if the systems are compatible with what the police department will be using.

 

Bartender license application for Raymond W. Moe was presented for approval. Jim Turner moved to approve the bartender license for Raymond W. Moe provided all criteria have been met, second Dave Ebner. Carried 6-0

 

OLD BUSINESS

            Steve Amos, from Team Amos Boxing submitted a request to have a fireworks display at the old elementary school prior to their Cameron Fight Night event on Saturday, February 24, 2018.. The firework show will last between 13-15 minutes, starting at about 9:30pm and will be put on by Flashing Thunder Fireworks Spectacular. Jim Turner moved to grant Team Amos Boxing a fireworks discharge permit provided all criteria are met, second Mark Trowbridge. Carried 6-0

The caucus was set for Monday, January 8, 2018 at 5:45 pm.

Resolution 2017-008, a resolution to authorize amendments in the 2017 Village of Cameron budget was presented for approval. Jim Turner moved to approve Resolution 201-008 as presented, second Russ Hulback. Carried 6-0

 

NEW BUSINESS

Jim Turner moved to purchase two tires for the pay loader from Pomp’s tire at a total cost of $2,987.00, second Dave Ebner. Carried 6-0

The Street Committee recommended trading the John Deere331G Compact Track Loader in for a smaller unit. Jim Turner moved to trade the John Deere331G Compact Track Loader in to Tractor Central for $53,000 and purchase a smaller track loader at a cost of $50,230, including the installation of a backup camera and strobe light, along with a broom attachment for the unit, which will leave a credit on account of $2,770, second Steve Johnson. Carried 6-0

Jaden had given an update on the street sweeper during his report. The street sweeper needs to go back to MacQueen for more repairs, so weather permitting the street department will drive it over to MacQueen, which is located in the Twin Cities.

Steve Johnson made a motion to grant the Insurance Committee the authority to award the bids for the hail damage repair, second Jim Turner. Carried 6-0

 

At 7:03 pm Russ Hulback moved to adjourn, second Steve Johnson. Carried 6-0
