VILLAGE OF CAMERON REGULAR BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, JANUARY 8, 2024

            The Cameron Village Board met in regular session on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cameron Village Hall.  Members present: Randy Hill, Ben Hester, Jessica Larson, Dylan Bahr, Steve Johnson, Dave Ebner, and Russ Hulback presiding.

 

            Also present: Amy Kelsey, Kathy Krug, Adam Steffen, Heather Fick, Bill Koepp and Jaden Ebert.

 

            The minutes of the December 11, 2023 regular meeting was mailed out prior to the meeting. Steve Johnson moved to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2023 regular meeting as presented, second Jessica Larson. Carried 7-0.

 

            The January payables were presented in printed form. Dylan Bahr moved to approve the payment of the January payables with the additions, second Dave Ebner. Carried 7-0

 

APPEARANCES:

            Public Comment: There were no public comments.

            Bill Koepp reported that progress is slow on the new homes being built. Dave Ebner suggested that Bill stop at the Kiehl property, behind Brion’s, and make sure the property is habitable.

            Jaden Ebert submitted his written report and had nothing to add.

            Adam Steffen had nothing to report that won’t be in the Law Enforcement Committee update.

 

There was no bartender license application for this month.

 

OLD BUSINESS

            The Law Enforcement Committee met and reported that one of the new officers started her cadet training and should be done and patrolling by July of this year.

            Adam submitted a request to attend the WPCA Chief’s Conference in Wisconsin Dells February 4th through the 7th at a cost of approximately $642. Dave Ebner moved to approve Adams request to attend the WPCA Chief’s Conference in Wisconsin Dells February 4th through the 7th at a cost of approximately $642, second Dylan Bahr. Carried 7-0

            The committee also recommended paying Adam 40 hours of wages while he attends the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (NLEOM) induction of fallen officers in Washington DC, May 10 through May 18. Adam’s whole department will be attending the week-long event, with a majority of the costs being taken care of through donations. Adam is required to attend to escort Hunter’s mother and fiancée when his name is called for the memorial wall. There are numerous events throughout the week, including candlelight vigil, grief counseling sessions and seminars. Dave Ebner moved to pay Adam 40 hours of wages while attending the NLEOM in Washington DC, May 10 through May 18, second Jessica Larson. Carried 7-0

 

            The Street Committee met and discussed the request from St. John’s Lutheran Church for the Village to take over ally/street that is on the west side of their property. They also discussed borrowing money versus doing a referendum to re-blacktop select streets, purchase equipment and building maintenance. They are estimating the need to borrow two million dollars and are researching how the borrowing would affect the mill rate for the Village.

           

NEW BUSINESS

            A Certified Survey Map (CSM) separating 1.51 acres from parcel 111-8044-20-00 on the Hansen property was presented for approval. Steve Johnson moved to approve the CSM separating 1.51 acres from parcel 111-8044-20-00 on the Hansen property, second Dave Ebner. Carried 7-0

A Certified Survey Map (CSM) separating 6.59 acres from parcel 111-8044-21-00 on the Hansen property was presented for approval. Steve Johnson moved to approve the CSM separating 6.91 acres from parcel 111-8044-21-00 on the Hansen property, second Dave Ebner. Carried 7-0

           

At 6:41, Ben Hester moved to adjourn the meeting, second Dylan Bahr. Carried 7-0
