VILLAGE OF CAMERON REGULAR BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, JULY 8, 2019

6:00 P.M.

            The Cameron Village Board met in regular session on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cameron Village Hall. Members present: Steve Johnson, Dave Ebner, Ben Hester, Russ Hulback, Randy Hill, Tim Wall, with Mark Trowbridge presiding.

 

            Also present: Jaden Ebert, Mike Lynch, Wade Goss and Gary Strand.

 

           The minutes of the June 10, 2019 regular meeting were mailed out prior to the meeting. Dave Ebner moved to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2019 regular meeting as printed, second Ben Hester. Carried 7-0

 

            The July payables were presented in printed form. Ben Hester moved to approve the payment of the July payables and additions as printed, second Tim Wall. Carried 7-0

 

APPEARANCES:

           Public Comment: There were no public comments.

            Wade Goss appeared to inform the board on his progress of meeting the conditions on the Conditional Use Permit that he was granted on May 14, 2018. Wade stated that the survey was done, fence was erected and the large door was installed. They have processed 18 of the 36 homes they had in inventory and plan on finishing those 18 before they bring anymore in, and he anticipates not having anymore than 5 homes on site at a time. Mark Trowbridge moved to extend Mr. Goss’s Conditional Use Permit for another year, ending on July 1, 2020, second Steve Johnson. Carried 7-0

            Jaden Ebert submitted his written report and added that the No Parking signs have been installed by the Cameron House and that he and Mike are working on getting cameras set up at the park due to the recent vandalism.

            Mike Lynch submitted his written report and added that the speed board trailer should be ready for pick up.

 

            There were no bartender licenses to approve.

 

OLD BUSINESS

            Jaden Ebert presented a quote from Smithco for a new yard sweeper to replace the one that recently burned up at a cost of $26,000. The insurance company has already sent a check for $25,000 to cover the loss. The extra $1,000 (deductible) will come out of the Cemetery outlay account. Randy Hill moved to approve the purchase of a Smithco Sweep Star 48 lawn sweeper, with the $1,000 to come out of the Cemetery outlay account, second Steve Johnson. Carried 7-0

            Gary Strand, engineer from Cooper Engineering submitted Change Order No. 1 for the N. 11th Street project for approval. Russ Hulback moved to approve Change Order No. 1 for the N. 11th Street project, second Mark Trowbridge. Carried 7-0

 

NEW BUSINESS

            Ben Hester moved to table the purchase of a refrigerator for the pavilion at Guy Spiers Park, second Randy Hill. Carried 7-0

            The Water and Sewer Committee recommended to discontinue the deduct meter program as of December 31, 2019. Steve Johnson moved to discontinue the deduct meter program as of December 31, 2019, second Randy Hill. Carried 6-1 (Russ Hulback voting against)

            Jaden Ebert requested to purchase 50 new water meters as they are in the process of replacing meters that have lead in them. They have approximately 350 meters in service that have lead in them, so it will take a few years to get them all out of service. Dave Ebner moved to approve the purchase of 50 new water meters, second Mark Trowbridge. Carried 7-0

 

 

At 7:00 a roll call was taken to go into closed session according to State Statute 19:85 (1)(e) for purchase of public properties, investment of public funds, or conduct of other specific public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session. Randy Hill-Yes; Dave Ebner-Yes; Steve Johnson-Yes; Russ Hulback – Yes; Tim Wall-Yes; Ben Hester-Yes and Mark Trowbridge-Yes.

 

At 7:41 Dave Ebner made a motion to go back into open session, second Ben Hester. Carried 7-0

 

As there was no further business to attend to, at 7:41 Steve Johnson moved to adjourn, second Tim Wall. Carried 7-0
